As one of your assistant principals here at Platte County R-3 High School, let me introduce myself. I am Matt Messick, and my journey in education has taken me through Mound City and Northwest Missouri State in Maryville as a student, and West Nodaway and Fairfax School Districts as a teacher , coach, and athletic director. Most recently, though, you could have found me in the assistant principal's office at Bowling Green High School in eastern Missouri.
Success in education mirrors success in life, and learning how to succeed is a prime function of high schools. I truly believe that success in high school is an excellent, though not infallible, predictor of a future successful career and fulfilling personal life. Therefore, I take my job seriously because I want to be a part of helping our students find success. While serving the district as one of your assistant principals, I will focus on student/staff support services, maintaining positive school climate, and the development of 21st century skills.
While faith, family, and friends guide my vision, I have found success in following three basic principles: being patient and persistent, adapting an attitude of service, and making value based decisions. I have found this to be successful practice in the classroom, in all athletic venues, and the pursuit to be consummate professional.
I am extremely excited to introduce my family to Pirate life. My wife, Nicole, is a local high school guidance counselor and our family's event planner. We cherish spending family time together and certainly share the love of learning.
I look forward to a successful school year with the students and staff at PCHS.
