Pirate Academy Tutoring

Pirate Academy After School Tutoring

The mission of the Platte County High School Pirate Academy is to provide a safe place for high school students to be able to work quietly or collaboratively with staff or peers.

What We Do

  • Provide a quiet safe place for students to work.
  • Provide a safe place for students to work collaboratively on school projects
  • Provide staff to assist students in organization or goal setting.
  • Provide staff to assist students with assignments, projects or content in various academic areas.

Who We Are

  • Certified staff from Platte County High School who are dedicated to helping our students.
  • We try to have at least one math teacher and second teacher available for assistance.

Our WHY Behind What We Do

  • We believe everyone can learn.
  • We believe that everyone needs a little help now and then.

Where We Are Located

Paxton Center Large Group 1 Downstairs
1601 Branch St
Platte City, MO 64079

Hours

3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting September 5.

Paxton doors lock at 3:00pm so students must be in the room by 3:00 pm or they must have the staff member they are working with fill out the late arrival form for Pirate Academy. Staff have access to this on the staff home doc.

Activity Bus

A modified activity bus route is available at 5 after Pirate Academy ends. Visit the transportation website to see if there is a stop near your home. Students who attend Pirate Academy until 4:50 and let the staff member know they are planning on riding the activity bus will be added to the list to ride home. If they are not on the list they cannot ride the bus.

This is a voluntary program. Students are welcomed to come for just part of the time or all of it. Students are not allowed to leave and “wander” the grounds or leave and then ride the activity bus home. If students are riding the activity bus they must be at Pirate Academy until 4:50 to get on the list. Students can leave with their own rides at any time.
