Assistant Director of Bands
Platte County High School/Platte City Middle School 

Mr. Callahan is excited to be working in the Platte County R3 School District as the Assistant Director of Bands at Platte County High School. He will be teaching at both Platte County High School and Platte City Middle School. Mr. Callahan began teaching band in 2015. He has previously taught at Carthage R9 School District for one year and Grandview C4 School District for five years. Mr. Callahan's bands and jazz bands have traveled to multiple festivals on a yearly basis and consistently received exemplary ratings at all festivals. 

Mr. Callahan graduated with his Masters of Music in Music Education from Kent State University in 2019 and also with his Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Pittsburg State University in 2015. During his collegiate career Mr. Callahan served as a Drum Major and Section Leader in the Pittsburg State Pride of the Plains Marching Band, he played Lead Tenor Saxophone in the top Jazz Ensemble during all 5 years of his undergraduate work, and he was first chair clarinet in the top Wind Ensemble. Mr. Callahan graduated Summa Cum Laude with Departmental Academic Honors from Pittsburg State University.

Mr. Callahan lives with his wife Hillary and his daughter Emma, who was born in 2017,  in Overland Park, Kansas. Mr. Callahan is incredibly excited to get to work at Platte County R3 School District with his tremendous students and colleagues!

4th Hour: 8th Grade Band - PCMS

5th Hour: 6th Grade Brass - PCMS

6th Hour: 6th Grade Woodwinds - PCMS
